One random day in October of 2011, two people went about their day in seemingly the most uneventful of ways. They had no idea a simple repetitive daily action would change their lives forever. They both checked their Facebook as they'd done a thousand times before. On this day, a mutual friend of theirs had weighed in a hot, political topic in the news at the time. One chimed in and then the other, both to the same tune as one another and to the converse of the friend. Immediately, the banter began. From there it turns to private chat. Then to text messaging. Then to phone calls. And roughly 5 weeks later they met - as the distance between them spanned many, many miles.
Jason, at the time, was stationed at Keesler Air Force Base. Linda lived in New Jersey, not far from where Jason grew up. And so it went for nearly 17 months. Linda would fly down for long weekends as often as scheduling would allow their relationship grew and grew. They spent holidays together and communicated during every waking, available moment. Across the miles and with a time zone difference, they curated this relationship into a great love.
In March of 2013, Jason completed his military enlistment. Linda made her last trip to Mississippi on a one-way flight. Together they drove back - across the Gulf Coast into Alabama and turning north, cutting the corner of the United States through Georgia and into South Carolina, and finally up the East Coast through North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and into New Jersey. We moved in together in a small condo in Jersey City.
2 years from the day we met, October 26th of 2013 Linda and I casuall took a walk along the Brooklyn Bridge. The secret, not-so-casual part of that walk for me was that when we reached the middle of the bridge, I asked Linda to marry me. The whole story is acually sickeningly adorable and got its own blog post. Read about that adventure. And the wedding planning began and continued for 20 months until June 12, 2015 when the event finally happened. It was a remarkably spectacular day in every way. We had 150+ of our friends and family join us to celebrate our union and we partied the night away in a beautiful venue with delicious food and grand entertainment. It was a night to never be forgotten.
2015 was a banner year for us. A month prior to our wedding I started a new job at Olapic. It was my first real job post-military and the mark of giving up the entrepreneur life. It turned my professional life around forever. June brought the wedding. Near the end of July we found out our family would grow by one when Linda got pregnant. October she began a new job (one with less than 3 weeks of travel per month). And on the last day of November we closed on the sale of our very first home.
In April of 2016, Nicholas Thomas Viglione joined the world at 7:30pm, 11 days early, and our lives changed together yet again. Since then every day has been just a little better than the one before it as we watch him grow into an amazing, but tiny person.
Along the way we've had ups and downs. We agree and disagree. We've been thin and flush. We've always been healthy, luckily. There will be more of each of those as our long and winding road gets longer and more windy.
We hope you enjoy the site!
